We are currently looking for a System Administrator to join our team of other system administrators and be responsible for maintenance, documentation, and expansion of the company’s internal IT infrastructure. Currently it consists of a few dozens of physical servers scattered around the world. Physical machines run on Debian Linux, on them we host hundred virtual machines and containers with Debian Linux and dozens of MS Windows Server.

Once onboarded, you’ll participate in the on-call schedule and react to potential production-related outages. You'll have plenty of chances to identify new areas where your skills can help others or improve existing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate issues, incidents, and their impact, recommend solutions, seek workarounds.
  • Delivering high quality support and solutions in compliance with agreed SLA and processes
  • Working with tasks based on email / JIRA or other channels with transparent communication.
  • Working in accordance with Macrobond policies and implemented rules.
  • On selected weeks - responding to alarms in accordance with the adopted On-call rules
  • Looking for gaps / backdoors / bottlenecks in the infrastructure and addressing them
  • Documenting and sharing knowledge with others in the Team.
  • Being responsible for overall architecture of the systems we work with
  • Collaborate across teams and seniority levels, sometimes with clients.
  • Reporting work results and progress to the direct manager

Essential skills/qualifications

  • Job experience on similar position
  • Good overall communication skills, good written and spoken English (min. B2).
  • At least 3 years of professional system administration experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot common problems with operating systems, software applications,
  • Knowledge of the common protocols, including HTTP, DNS, SMTP, NTP, FTP
  • Proficiency in at least one of the scripting languages: Bash/Python/Perl/PHP
  • Good understanding of common security threats and remediation's
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IPv4 & IPv6 networks
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime and during some weekends.

Desirable skills/qualifications

  • Maintenance of high-availability environments
  • Hosting web applications
  • KVM-based virtualization and LXC containers
  • Working with MySQL/pgSQL database, maintenance, and replication.
  • Working on cloud environment (AWS/Azure)
  • Alerting systems, strong focus on work automation
  • Experience working with Ansible, GITlab, SVN, Docker, IPTables, Apache/Nginx, Nagios, Zabbix, UTM
